Facial oils are the new must-have in skin care and with good reason. They are intensely moisturising, help keep skin dewy and smooth, while often targeting signs of aging, skin damage and dryness. Oils have always been used in skincare. In fact, you’re already using them and just don’t know it. Skin benefiting oils are often incorporated into skincare creams and serums but are diluted with a ton of other chemicals and ingredients including water. Facial oils, on the other hand, are a concentrated dosage of pure, all-natural goodness and cut the BS, getting straight to it with amazing benefits for your skin.
A good facial oil:
Provides Intense hydration
Prevents moisture loss
Contains essential omega fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants
Acts like your skins natural oils
Is suitable for all skin types
So why are they so effective? Because they’re easily absorbed into the skin, disappearing within seconds of applying, to penetrate down to where they’re needed the most. This is because of their much smaller molecular structure allowing your skin to retain hydration on a deeper, dermis level.
Will it make me break out?
Nope. This is a common concern (and misconception) when it comes to facial oils. They won’t cause breakouts and are packed with so many vitamins, antioxidants and omega 3 oils that they actually help reduce breakouts, fine lines and wrinkles and promote a dewy, smooth complexion.
I already have oily skin; can I use a facial oil?
You betcha. Facial oils work on all skin types. And yes, it is possible to be dehydrated AND oily, so whatever your skin type, the right oil can make a major difference in skin hydration and appearance.
But will I look like an oil-slick?
Not a chance. Facial oils are deeply penetrating so they won’t sit on the skin or give you a greasy, shiny look or feel at all. Facial oils are the closest to those produced by the skin so your body knows just what to do with them and absorbs those oils like there is no tomorrow. And remember, a little goes a long way.
Do I still need to use a moisturiser?
Some people prefer facial oils over moisturisers, as a good facial oil will not only replenish your skin’s natural moisture levels, but it’ll also help protect it from future moisture loss. However, you can have the best of both worlds. Use your facial oil first for intense hydration and then place your moisturiser over the top to lock in all those amazing benefits.
